Chemical companies in Nanjing partner with Linde for capacity expansions
Nanjing, CHINA, – 27 July 2010 – The technology group, The Linde Group, will invest RMB 240 million (Euro 24 million) to expand its gases solutions in Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park (NCIP), Jiangsu Province. This follows the award of two new contracts to Linde for the supply of industrial gases to Sinopec subsidiary, Yangtze Petrochemical Company Limited (YPC), and leading local chemical company, Dynamic (Nanjing) Chemical Company Limited.
Linde Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park Gases Company Limited (Linde Nanjing) in NCIP will construct and manage new gas production facilities for gaseous oxygen supply to YPC and Dynamic via a 10-kilometre pipeline. In addition, Linde Nanjing will also supply a range of liquid products to the merchant market.
"This investment signifies an important step forward for Linde to participate in the next stage of growth of the chemical industry in Nanjing. This takes us a step closer to our aspiration to develop an integrated gases supply scheme in Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, to offer optimal operational and energy efficiencies to our customers,” said Steven Fang, Head of The Linde Group’s Greater China business. “We will continue to inject our expertise here, drawn from our ten years of experience in Nanjing, to help develop the park and its surrounding area to its fullest potential.”
"We welcome Linde's investment, and support Linde’s development in Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park," said Lu Yi, Standing Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park (NCIP) and General Manager of Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park Co., Ltd.
NCIP is one of China’s key chemical hubs along the eastern coastal belt, contributing to a third of Jiangsu’s total provincial petrochemical industry turnover in 2008. To date, some 70 international companies have set up projects in NCIP.
Linde’s existing gases infrastructure in NCIP provides gases solutions to YPC and BASF-YPC Company Limited, through Linde’s joint venture, BOC-Yangtze Petrochemical Company (BYG). BYG is a 50:50 joint venture partnership with YPC formed in 2002.
YPC is a backbone enterprise wholly-owned by China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). Founded in 1983, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province; YPC is one of the most important petrochemical production sites in China, being one of the largest pure benzene, ortho-xylene, pure terephthalic acid (PTA), butadiene and ethylene oxide suppliers in China.
Dynamic was established in Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park in 2004 by Hong Kong Dynamic International Enterprise Company Limited. Hong Kong Dynamic International today has four production sites, mainly producing glycol ether and acetate, isophthalonitrile (IPN) and xylene diamine (MXDA).
