JILIN, CHINA, 5 December 2011 – Linde Greater China, a member of The Linde Group, has been commissioned to provide gaseous hydrogen to an integrated chemical production complex in Jilin, Northeast China.
Linde will invest EUR 42 million (RMB 380 million) in Jilin Chemical Industrial Park (JCIP) to build and operate a hydrogen gases supply scheme to provide high purity hydrogen to the chemical plants within the complex. These are the production facilities of Evonik Industries and Jishen, which require up to 25,000 Nm3/h of gaseous hydrogen.
Linde’s new 25,000 normal cubic metres per hour (Nm3/h) hydrogen plant, using natural gas steam reforming technology, will be built by Linde’s Engineering Division. Linde will also set up a new subsidiary, Linde Gases Jilin, to run the total management of the plant and Linde’s future gases network expansion opportunities in and around the industrial park.
"This gases supply win for Linde in Jilin is testament of our expansion in a region of dynamic growth, where new mega scale projects of high technology appreciation are coming into play here. We look forward to jointly creating with our partners in the Jilin chemical cluster a conducive climate that would attract further investments in JCIP,” said Steven Fang, Head of Region Greater China, The Linde Group.
PetroChina’s joint venture, Jishen, and Evonik Industries and Huntsman, will develop a new RMB 3.5 billion (EUR 390 million) Hydrogen Peroxide to Propylene Oxide (HPPO) integrated chemical processing hub in Jilin Chemical Industry Circular Economy Pilot Park (JCIP). Evonik invests in a 230 kta hydrogen peroxide (HP) plant, to supply HP to Jishen’s 300 kta propylene oxide (HPPO) plant. Huntsman will in turn obtain HPPO for its polyol plant. The project is expected to come on-stream by end 2013.
The integrated cluster will produce the pre-cursors for the making of polyurethane plastics, the building block for the manufacturing chain for consumer products such as shoe soles, fibers, foam insulation for refrigerating appliances, adhesives, mattresses and automotive seats.
